In traditional Turkish baths, men and women were strictly separated from each other ever since the earliest times. Therefore, separate bath sections were built or the baths were visited by men and women alternately. The walls and floors of the bath were heated with hot water or, just like in Eger, with thermal water. To reach a temperature of 50 °C and relative humidity of 100%, water was regularly sprinkled on the floor. This milder steam is more gentle than the sauna. A real Turkish Bath, that is, hamam, not only cleanses the body but the high humidity of the hot air loosens up the muscles, invigorates the circulation of blood and kills harmful bacteria and pathogens.Â
